Pilot Highlights |

In early 1990, AT&T and the State of Arizona joined forces to
implement a pilot telework program as part of their respective travel
reduction plans. The Arizona
Department of Commerce Energy Office and the Public Relations Department of
AT&T coordinated the pilot design, implementation and review. |

In April of 1990, 189 teleworkers and their supervisors from AT&T, and the Departments of Commerce, Environmental Quality, Game and Fish, and Water Resources were trained in the fundamentals of working at home. |

After six months, the teleworkers, their supervisors and a large group of non-teleworkers were surveyed to document the impacts of teleworking.

As a result of the pilot program, Arizona's
Governor issued Executive Order 93-16, creating The State of Arizona Telework Program and authorizing every agency, board and commission to participate in the program on a phased-in basis.
The program is being administered by the Department of Administration. |
